Anthony Hill: Works 1954-82
12th September 2003 - 10th October 2003
Anthony Hill, Relief Construction (Octagonal), 1982
An exhibition of selected works by Anthony Hill
In a world in which unceasing violence and destruction makes us look for ways of escape into fantasies and romances, Constructive art explores the rich diversity of the concept ‘order’. It offers a true kind of realism – the realism not of description or of narrative but of mental processes and their delivery in material structures related to the age in which we live. In Anthony Hill’s art, especially, we find a poetic spirit resolutely in search of structures that speak of regularity and clarity by ever-unexpected means.
